Being in band was a wonderful experience. I was in Ruth Postons band and then Al Postons in the 1970's. I played one of the best instruments around, go Alto Saxophones! I have many fond memories of my band years at JHS. I am very proud of the JHS Band Program and Mr. Warner and Mr. Hall are to be commended.

Class of 1966---What a great experience band was for me in every way. Al Poston was such a wonderful teacher, mentor, and motivator for his students. He expected us to work hard and inspired us to succeed. The band program was a strong leadership development opportunity for students. I am currently living in Texas and welcome hearing from any of my band friends. jelainewad@aol.com

Oh yea, almost forgot...Tenor/Drumline, Class of 2004 GO JHS!!!!!!!!!!!

JHS Band was the best experience I had in high school. Nothing beat the feeling of pumping up the crowd at football games playing in the drumline....or winning the Arkansas Open every year! If you guys are ever short-handed of a tenor player, don't hesitate to give me a call! Sgt. Phillips, Brandon M. United States Marine Corps/Infantry

Belinda Whitley - Flute, 1973-1979. I so greatly appreciate the discipline and fun that band brought to my life. The Poston's were great teachers and Mr. Poston is one of the funniest people on the planet.

Hi from the class of 1958. I played baritone horn (allstate 4 years) and trombone (Dixieland Band). Great school, wonderful band, inspiring leaders like Nicholas Rohulick. These are the friends you make for life.

My years in band started with Ruth Poston at ACJHS in 1974, and I was privileged to learn from Al Poston, Ernie Simpson, and Robin Nix all three. I graduated in 1980. Music is still my passion, even though it is not how I earn my living. I have been able to stay active musically in my church. If I had it to do all over again, I would reject the advice I followed so many years ago to skip the music degree and earn a better living another way. Nothing touches you as does the gift of music. It give me a great sense of pride that I participated in band as I enjoy sharing the experience with my youngest son, and I know he will get the positive benefits of the band program as well. KEEP IT GOING!!

Class of 1981 I played baritone all four of my years there and had a great time, especially during marching season. I also got to play drums with the newly formed Jazz Band my senior year. I still wonder after all these years if I could pick up a baritone and remember how to play.

Some of my best memories from Jr. High and High School are with the band. I was lucky to be in the Poston bands in the seventies and lately my sons have been lucky to participate in the Jonesboro band progams which are still great.

Many fond memories of the JHS & Annie Camp bands ('73-'78). I owe much to Al and Ruth Poston for their patience and guidance. With 23 yrs. university teaching behind me, currently in my 8th yr. as Professor of Percussion Studies at Truman State Univ. (MO).

Class of 1966 - After leaving JHS I went to school at ASU and Southern Ill. University. In 1972 I joined the US Marine Band in Washington and played tuba and trombone for 22 years. Since retiring from the USMB, I've played with the McLean Orchestra in McLean, VA. I'm returning to Jonesboro to live this fall.

Class of 1977 Played oboe and was a majorette from Annie Camp thru graduation during the great Poston era. After their training, I did not need military service to learn self discipline. Ha! I am now practicing medicine in Music City USA and hope this forum allows me the opportunity to hear from former band members.

I played Baritone/Euphonium from 1988-1991. I was awarded the Phi Mu Alpha award from my director Geoff Carlton in '91. I enjoyed every minute of my JHS band experience (especially our trip to WashingtonDC)
